Climate Ed is announcing a series of leadership and structural changes to support its next stage of growth.
Founded in 2020, Climate Ed started as a small London-based initiative, piloting ways to engage children in climate education in a few local schools. Over four years, the charity expanded across London, gaining a strong reputation for its work. Notable achievements include the Commitment to Climate Justice Award (Lambeth Civic Awards 2024), the Climate Champion Award (Southwark Civic Awards 2024), and being a finalist for the Third Sector Awards Volunteer Team of the Year 2024. Founder Ben Cuddon was also awarded the 2025 Royal Meteorological Society Education Award.
In 2024, Climate Ed launched its 2024–27 strategy, initiating a national expansion to make carbon literacy education available to every primary-aged child in the UK. The charity now operates in London, the West Midlands, the North West, and the South East, with further expansion planned.
To guide the organisation through this next phase, Climate Ed has made key appointments:
Ben Cuddon, Founder, becomes Director of Programmes, overseeing delivery and adaptation of Climate Ed’s programme nationwide, ensuring alignment with school needs and upcoming curriculum changes.
Abi Jermain is appointed Climate Ed’s first Chief Executive Officer. Abi has 30+ years’ experience in environmental NGOs and research organisations and previously led Climate Ed’s strategic development.
Dominique Airey, long standing trustee, becomes our new Chair of Trustees, bringing a wealth of leadership, governance, and fundraising experience. Dominique has led both non-profits and mission-driven startups with extensive experience working to deliver impact for young people and climate action.
Ben Cuddon said: "These changes reflect Climate Ed’s evolution into a growing, ambitious organisation. With Abi and Dominique on board, we are well-positioned to deliver high-quality climate education to children across the UK and continue adapting our programme to meet school needs as the national curriculum evolves."
Abi Jermain said: "I am excited to lead Climate Ed at this pivotal moment. Our work with schools is essential in preparing young people to understand climate challenges and take meaningful action. I look forward to scaling our programmes so that every child in the UK has access to this vital education."
